Today marks the 11th anniversary of 9/11. In a political environment that has become increasingly polarized, Americans from all walks of life come together each year to collectively remember the victims of that tragic day and reflect on the unity and patriotism that binds us as a nation. Today, I choose to remember a time in American history wherein we all stood together despite our political, religious, and racial differences. A time in American history when our differences faded in an instant, and in that moment, we, as Americans, stood together as a cohesive unit--the United States of America.
